My toddler came to me one day, pointed to her favourite stuffed animal and said this is her “pet”. Teacher at school has been teaching them the concept of pet and the kind of animals that can be “pet” but not animals in the wild. To my baby girl, she refuses that giraffe is a wild animal but a pet because it has been a “pet” to her as it “sleeps” and “eats” at home.
